Review: Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Cream

For reasons unexplained, ORIGINS has been a bit of a hit-and-miss with me. In the past, I’ve tried their Make A Difference Rejuvenating Serum which made no difference to me. But I really dig their Starting Over Moisturizer for dehydrated skin, and Purifying Tonic.

Last weekend, I attended a blogger’s workshop for the launch of their Plantscription Anti-Aging Cream – newest member to their award-winning Plantscription collection. Leveraging from Origin’s philosophy of using the power of plants, this new anti-aging cream contains two powerful ingredients: Anogeissus tree bark extract & raspberry plant stem cells.

What is Anogeissus tree bark extract?
Anogeissus is a sacred tree deeply integrated in African medicinal practice. Native to the Republic of Ghana in West Africa, local tribes use the bark extracts of this tree as a antimicrobial to heal wounds. After five years of R&D, Origins discovered that this bark extract has an excellent ability to protect and boost the skin’s natural collagen. This results in making skin firmer and more resilient.

What are raspberry plant stem cells?
Raspberry plant stem cells are cellular cultures extracted from plant leaves. They have the unique ability to ‘self-renew’ by re-growing new plant parts such as leaves, roots or stems from a single isolated cell. In the case of Origins Plantscription’s anti-aging cream, they come from raspberry leaves harvested from the Italian mountains of Torella dei Lombardi. Once extracted, advanced stem cell technology is able to program the cells to function in a certain way for a certain purpose. Here, the raspberry plant stem cells are formulated to fight cellular damage. This results in making the skin younger-looking.

To know the cream, one has to use it. So, I was picked for a demonstrative mini facial that would end with the application of the new anti-aging cream. And what an experience.

Products used for my mini-facial

Step 1: Cleanse. Ann (who did my mini facial) used Origins Clean Energy to remove my make-up and cleanse my face.
Step 2: Exfoliate. She squeezed a 50-cent coin blob of Origins Modern Friction for a gentle exfoliating scrub. Ann told me that this is one of their best-sellers of all-time. With a huge emphasis on all-time.
Step 3: Mask. After the rinse, she applied Origins Drink Up for an express 10-minute hydrating mask to my normally dry skin.

Step 4: Tone. I cannot remember which toner she used.

Step 5: Moisturize. Lastly, she applied the new Plantscription anti-aging cream on my face, using a special face massaging technique. I almost fell asleep with the gentle pressure strokes on my face, as she massaged the cream into the skin.

The cream slides on well on the skin, and absorbs almost immediately. It is not thick like a lot of other creams. And smells like berries. We were told that there are over 300,000 raspberry plant stem cells in every jar!  It was also witnessed by another blogger at the event that my complexion had an obvious lift from the before and after.

All I know is the cream texture is light, absorbs well and smells great. I will be adding this cream to my daily skin care routine, knowing that it was made using a combination of renewable resources, wind energy and earth-friendly practices.

At the end of the workshop, Angie (training manager) presented me with a gift bag. But just look at how pretty her nails are!! So Origins, so 2103. (Read 10 Ways to Celebrate Pantone’s 2013 color of the Year: Emerald Green)
