Review: Margherita Ghel Foaming Cleanser

Margherita Ghel is a French organic skin care brand, that has nothing to do with the alcoholic cocktail drink; yet everything to do with a type of flower – the organic white daisy named Margherita, found along the border of Spain and France.

With minimal marketing push, Margherita Ghel can be considered somewhat of a cult brand, particularly in the world of French organic skin care.

After reviewing Margherita Ghel’s moisturiser (click to read my review), I had the opportunity to try its foaming cleanser. If you are looking for a no-nonsense, reasonably-priced organic cleanser that does the job for all skin types, this is a cleanser to add to your toiletry cabinet.

Here is the review after my 4-week use.

Margherita Ghel Foaming Cleanser is as the name says it is – a face cleanser that foams. Developed as a gentle gel-based cleanser, it effectively removes dirt and makeup while protecting the skin’s hydrolipidic film (skin’s natural protective barrier). Sometimes, when a cleanser cleans too well, it can strip the skin’s essential oils. This often leaves me with dry, flaky skin around my nose and lip area. But no such problem with this cleanser.

In fact, my skin feels fresh, soft and hydrated. This is largely due to its formula blend of: aqua, organic peppermint leaf water and organic aloe vera leaf juice – listed as the top 3 ingredients; combined with organic daisy flower extract and organic rosemary water. Just look at the list!

The scent is hard to describe – a floral mix of sorts – is the best way I can describe it. The clear gel foams up well (not too much and not too little) and washes off completely after a few splashes. All I need is one pump per use for my entire face.

What I like best about this cleanser is the packaging. The pump bottle is not only biodegradable (good for the environment), it is excellent for travel. The shape, size and ease of use is perfect for a quick throw (for lack of a better word) into your travel toiletries bag and go.

This cleanser is a fully eco-certified product. Due to its high organic content, and same as the Margherita Ghel moisturiser I reviewed, you will find a ‘use by’ date at the base of the bottle.

I would say this cleanser is suitable for all skin types.

Margherita Ghel guarantees effectiveness of their products. 100% free of harmful paraben, mineral oil, silicone, artificial perfume and colour, Margherita Ghel does not use genetically-modified organisms, petrol-chemical ingredients or test on animals.

This cleanser retails for S$49 and is available at SuperBerry, 181 Orchard Road, Orchard Central, #03-29
