Review: Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging+Intensive Repair Daily Serum

It might seem strange for an eco-blogger like me to blog about… of all brands – Elizabeth Arden. But time and time again, I chance upon a seriously superior product. What do I do?

I love and support natural and organic products, but I feel (at times) we need to rely on modern and innovative technology to treat specific problems. Not all chemicals are toxic and harmful. Some chemical compounds are intentionally developed for specific and targeted purposes.

Using the same technology that preserves human organs during transport for transplant purposes – in preventing the process of oxidisation, Elizabeth Arden has developed (and owns the patented rights to) a very special anti-aging compound called Idebenone.

No other product in the world contains this powerful antioxidant. Idebenone literally penetrates through the skin right into the cell to kill free radicals. From what I know, most antioxidants attack free radicals from the outside of the cell, not within.

The latest launch of Prevage Anti-Aging + Intensive Repair Daily Serum blends Idebenone, with another powerful antioxidant – AFC (n-acetyl-s-farnsylcyteine). Don’t worry if you cannot pronounce it. I can barely spell it myself.

Hanging out with Susan Wong, another Singapore beauty blogger, whom I met at the launch.

The whole truth about Prevage and its new anti-aging formula boils down to one main function – to slow down the ageing process of the skin. It does so by providing a barrier of protection that neutralises the skin against free radical damage.

Backed by years of extensive clinical tests – not to mention, a labful of bio-scientists, leading dermatologists and clinical researchers, this serum is said to significantly improve the skin’s appearance of wrinkles, firmness smoothness and radiance.

Sure or not? I wondered. ‘Don’t all skincare companies who invest millions of dollars in R&D say the same kind raving testaments about their products?’

I had to give it a try.

Verdict: After three weeks of daily day and night use, my skin is noticeably smoother and more luminous. Fine lines on my forehead seem to have faded a little. But more interestingly, my sun spots seem to have lighten up as well. Not something I had expected.

This new serum comes in a bright orange lotion with a shimmery texture – reminds me of concentrated orange juice. It absorbs very well and almost immediately.

One of Elizabeth Arden’s famous maxim was “Every woman has the right to be beautiful“. And she has devoted her life to make this truly possible.

Available in Singapore at all Elizabeth Arden counters from next year January 2013, this innovative and transformational product does come with a price. For a 1.0 fl.oz pump bottle, be prepared to shell out S$399.
