Review: Coast to Coast Ultra Soothing White Clay Mask

After a facial (which included extractions) last weekend, I returned home looking like Rudolph, the red nose reindeer, who had broken out into a bad case of facial rash. Granted, it has been six months since my last facial visit so a major pore unearthing by my esthetician was expected.

This kind of post-facial spotty redness typically last no longer than a day for me. But I had a meeting at work the next day and did not want to risk any potential scarring (Tip: Always make sure that your esthetician is properly trained in facial extractions).

To soothe my post-facial skin, I tried Coast to Coast’s new Ultra Soothing White Clay Mask.

This Australian white clay mask is specially formulated for dehydrated and sensitive skin. It is enriched with organic aloe vera and Tasmanian sea kelp to moisturize and reduce redness and inflammation. Australian white clay contains essential minerals to detoxify the skin and draw out impurities. Perfect for my use.

This is my review.

The white clay mask has a fabulous uplifting citrusy and floral scent – a light blend of Jasmine, Candenula, Lavender, Grapefruit, Peppermint, Rosewood, Geranium and Eucalyptus. I love the way it smells on my face!

It comes in a white-colored moist clay texture that is easy to spread. Once applied, I felt a warm tingly sensation on my face that lasted for quite a few minutes – the mask is working! As the mask settled and dried, my skin felt tight and slightly pulled.

Tip: Clay masks should not sit for too long; ten minutes to dry is tops (read Misconceptions of Masking: What Your Face Really Wants).

The interesting thing about this mask is when I rinsed it off my face, the surface of my skin felt like it had an ultra smooth layer of gel or some kind of collagen-layering. Not in a dirty or product residue way. Rather it was light, yet felt clean…so hard to explain. This made me pick up the mask’s box to go over the ingredients carefully.

It must be the organic aloe vera leaf juice, listed as third ingredient from the top, that is giving me this delicate layer of second-skin feeling. I must add that I didn’t get this sensation after patting my face dry. It was only noticeable during the rinsing stage.

This mask is infused with natural soothing ingredients collected straight from Australia’s coastal regions. Botanical extracts of Tasmanian sea kelp, sea parsley and wild rosella contain rich anti-oxidants and skin soothing nutrients to protect against dehydration, UV stress and skin inflammation. This mask is ideal for after sun care, or those who suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

My post-facial extraction red spots were significantly reduced and the skin looked more calm and less inflamed.  The next day, my face bright, clean and smooth. Here I am (sorry about the blurry photo), back at work the next day with my Coast to Coast Ultra Soothing White Clay Mask!

Retail price: S$39 per 50ml jar. Available online or at their Coast to Coast retail boutique at VivoCity, #01-08.
