Review: Avalon Organics Lavender Facial Cleansing Gel
I love gel cleansers. And I am always in search for a cleanser that cleans thoroughly yet does not dry out the skin. So far, my experience with milk and cream-based cleansers is not impressive. They seem to leave an oily residue after rinsing off. Similarly, foam cleansers feel too lightweight, and do not seem to give a good-enough cleanse.
After my positive review of Avalon Organics’s Rosemary Body Lotion, I decided to give their Lavender Facial Cleansing Gel a try.
I seriously love this cleanser! On appearance, it is like any other gel cleanser – transparent with gel-like texture. On scent, the organic lavender will knock you out. If you are a lavender fan (like I am), this cleanser is a sniffer’s dream. Many times when I am cleansing my face with this cleanser, I catch myself cupping my hands to my nose and inhaling in the relaxing and soothing aroma.
Looking at the ingredient label, it is no wonder that Organic lavender is the no. 1 listed ingredient. This is followed by chamomile and white tea extracts. No parabens, harsh preservatives, 100% vegetarian ingredients and no animal testing.
Another thing about this cleanser is that it does not seem to foam up like a facial bubble bath. Only when it is dampened on the palm or face, it works into a creamy-textured lather that washes away well.
There is one thing that confuses me about this cleanser. On the top of the label, it states ‘Complete cleansing for sensitive skin‘. Yet, further down it further states ‘For Normal to Oily Skin Types‘. I am not sure how to interpret this.
All I know is that lavender is a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Skin that is prone to acne and oil buildup will benefit from this cleanser. It works wonderfully on my combination skin. But if you are sensitive to lavender-based products, I would say it is best to stay away because the lavender elements in this cleanser is very strong.
Reasonably priced at $11.90 per bottle, Avalon Organic Facial Cleansing Gel can be found at Watson’s retail stores. Read more on other Avalon Organics products I have reviewed.
