Sheroes – Celebrating Everyday Women Who Make A Difference Photography Competition

November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Rather than focus on women as victims of violence, Singapore Committee for UN Women invites the public to celebrate the inner strength, beauty and inherent power in the everyday woman.

In the containing efforts to end violence against women, the Singapore Committee for UN Women has launched Sheroes – a photography competition to showcase the lives of everyday women who inspire us. Whether it be your mother, your boss, your neighbour or your coffee shop “auntie“.

The top 10 photographs chosen will be showcased at a public exhibition on 29 November at the Indigo Blue Art Gallery, where the winner will be announced and stand to win a surprise prize.

This competition is open to anyone over the age of 13. Amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to participate.  Call for submissions is open now til 25 November 2013.

Each photo submitted should include a short description (1-2 sentences) of why the woman/girl featured inspires the photographer, and how his/her photo can raise awareness about the important roles women play in our lives.

To enter your photograph, go to https://www.facebook.com/SingaporeCommitteeForUnWomen/app_448952861833126
